Software

NRVU strongly recommends that every Microsoft Windows computer you use has antivirus protection and is regularly scanned for adware and spyware.  The following are recommendations only, and NRVU has no affiliation with the manufacturers.

Antivirus

• MacAfee (Network Associates)
• Norton Anti-Virus (Symantec)
• AVG Anti-Virus (Grisoft) - Free

Sypware (Software that gets loaded when you install something else and sends data without your knowledge)

• Spybot Search & Destroy (free for personal use)

Adware

• Ad-aware (free for personal use, can upgrade to commercial package)

Firewall (Protects your computer from unauthorized access by other computers.)

• Zone Alarm (free for personal use, can upgrade to commercial package)

Browsers

• Mozilla - Includes email software - Recommended
• Netscape - Netscape version of Mozilla with extras
• Firefox - Browser only software from Mozilla.org
